first off, being new...hi to all.

secondly, the equipment i use:

mac g4 733, delta audiophile 2496 card, behringer 4 channel mixer, behringer 4 channel headphone amp, akg microphone, roland jv-35 synthesizer, AND digital performer 3.0

i searched the forum for any tips/hints on these problems, but, no dice.

in DP 3 i'm trying to get the metronome to run through my headphone amp/headphones, but i'm not seeing a way to do that, it will only go through my soundstick speakers, which is pretty useless when trying to record. i have a friend that uses logic 4.7 and has the same problem. what can i do?

and...i have the waves 3.0 plug-ins that i would like to use in DP 3...i put the extension in the OS 9 extensions folder, dropped the plug-ins in the plug-ins folder, but can't see anything in the program, nor any way to activate it in the program. once again i asked my friend with logic how to install plug-ins, and apparantly he got his to work by "pure luck" and couldn't remember how to do it. anyways...any help on these two topics would be great.

hopefully i can get my act together and add some constructive help to this forum. sorry this post was so long. :)

thanks, erik

I'll say send the soundmanager output (or a dedicated synth output) to the mixer, then send the click via an aux to the headphone amp? Did i miss something?

IIRC, waves plugins must NOT be inside the MOTU MAS folder! Only the Waveshell-MAS or something, which will manage the plugs to support DP MAS. Waves plugins may be anywhere, the shell will ask for the path at launch time.

Bye.

In regards to the metronome click issue you can tell your friend who uses logic that he has his metronome set to "speaker click" (This is in the Song Settings). He can assign it to a MIDI object e.g. external synth.
Locate Metronome click icon in environment and assign a physical output, channel number and note pitch that corresponds to the synth, channel and sound he wants to use.

In 5.2 platinum there is now also a dedicated virtual synth (called klopfgeist) for use as a metronome on virtual instrument channel 64.

Not sure if there is anything similar in Performer to the above ideas.

Cutting a wide berth around the various ambiguous wordings so far about which locations for what:
The file "WaveShell-MAS x.x" has to be in the Plug-Ins folder inside the "MOTU" folder inside the "Extensions" folder inside your OS 9 "System" folder on your OS 9 partition/drive. The exact path is:
[OS 9 partition/disc]System/Extensions/MOTU/Plug-Ins/WaveShell-Mas x.x
Then, as Yukulele said, the Waves Plugs can be in any folder you choose elsewhere on your hard drives--but not in the "Plug-Ins" folder inside the Digital Performer folder; that's just for MIDI-related plug-ins, which apparently nobody makes except what ships with DP.
Don't shoot me; I'm just the messenger.
I didn't dream up such digital anarchy.

Thanks for clarifying, Levon ;-)

Yep, it's sad, we could easily imagine a lot of creative MIDI plugins, don't you yhink?
Anyway, there is also the Plugins folder (root of DP) which handles any Premiere plugins (ie ionizer, fx-machine, and such...).

Bye.
