Has anyone else had trouble using the audiophile 2496?
I found my cd rom to be something close to gobbledygook- - with the icons mentioned in the manual [in the first window] not being there etc. I am particually having trouble configuring my keyboard into the system. My cubase works as I can recieve tempo clicks, and have recorded midi, however.I cant for the life of me record live audio data to the sequencer.[from my keyboard] Where am I going wrong? Reference to the sound card manuals double dutch drives me insane. Plaese help if poss. Have you had similar problems? |

I've had the opposite issue - I couldn't get the MIDI to work, but I can record very easily, but only in OX9.
I set the sound manager control panel input and output to Analog In/Out, and use the ASIO drivers (ASIO2, I think) in Logic 4.7. Everything works fine for me. Does this help? -------------------- ____________________________________

I've been having trouble with the 2496 as well, and I think I've determined the problem. In the Delta control panel, if you set the input and output to HW 1/2, you can hear the audio from you keyboard, but you won't be able to hear any internal audio, or record. If you set the in and out to ASIO, you won't be able to hear your keyboard, but can do recording and hear your internal sound. Pretty lousy tradeoff, huh? Anyone have a solution to this?

Oh blimey. And I was just about to buy an audiophile 2496!! I shall be grateful if anyone reading this who has GOOD things to say to these poor folks could reply and put all our minds at ease. (It gets such good reviews??)

i've had the same problem as joyfulsong with my 2496...and would also be interested in a solution to the problem. my friend said it's probably a setting in the recording/sequencing program itsself that will fix it, but i've yet to discover what to do.

Use the monitor mixer setting in the delta control panel. Then you can hear both midi and audio via the analog output of the card. Don't forget to unmute the input channels.

I have an audiophile 2496 inside a 9600 running under OS 9.0.4 (never use any OS higher than this on a 9600, by the way...problem city!)
I use it for mixdown via the analog inputs from another system (XLR outs of an Apogee AD-8000.) I use it with Logic 4.7.3 and TC Spark for the sole purpose of stereo mixdown/mastering. The internal clock seems to be quite unstable on the 2496 when using the digital SPDIF input. It records fine this way, but the monitoring on the analog outputs gets all crackly and nasty, so monitoring is a nightmare when recording digitally. However, this problem evaporates when using the analog inputs and clocking the 2496 internally. Monitoring is absolutely fine using this protocol. If you are using it for SPDIF recording/simultaeneous analog monitoring, then I know there are problems. Some of these errors disappear when using the 2496 in a newer quicksilver G4 under OS 9.2.2. The delta control panel is not the cleverest looking piece of software I have set my eyes upon. But for the purpose of recording stereo program material via analog input into my 9600, it's a perfect solution. The audio quality is excellent, and I can record at 24/96khz using Spark! However, this is not to say that it wasn't a nightmare getting it to run smoothly. It's a fiddly interface, that delta console. Once you have it up and running happily, save the control panel settings and hope for the best next time you use it!! My experiences with the 2496 don't extend to midi; sorry to not be of any help in this area. Just a great sounding stereo card! It has turned my 9600 into a sort of 1/2 inch Ampex machine that sits in the corner...minus the editing with blades and the hiss! (old skool mastering!) -------------------- Nobody can take from you what you give freely.

hi you!
i am also a deltaAP user. and i already got so much anger on it. first because of its superior stupid control panel, which isn t very stable and trusty. and second: sometimes, i do not know, maybe that s logic s mistake, sometimes audio works and sometimes not... (i see the gain indication, but can t hear it. then after opening new songs, or changing samplerate or resetting asio, it s suddenly back again.) within reason it works perfectly. in the meantime i am thinking about maybe changing to an usb-audio-interface. do they work better? Personally I dont think it's the fact that the 2496 is a PCI card. It's the delta control panel coding- it sucks!! They should re-write the thing from the ground up... The actual card sounds great though, fortunately. USB / Firewire vs. PCI isn't the issue here. It's purely the driver/control panel creator's fault! It doesn't matter which interface it's designed for. Bad driver programming is unreliable and time consuming for the end user, period. I set my 2496 up as illustrated in my first post on this thread, then I simply refuse to load up delta's control panel. If I wish to change the card's settings, I do it directly within TC Spark's own audio prefs, or in Logic's audio drivers page. Once that pig of a delta console is behaving correctly, DONT TOUCH THE #&%+*(&$$#&!!! -------------------- Nobody can take from you what you give freely.
