I'm able to get Express 7 at a student discount but I have a few minor questions:

Does it a have a sampler and a loop function?

Interfaces: want something cheap but reliable (oxymoron I know). Recommendations?

Intention: Basically I will only be recording guitars, one at a time and editing them. No multitrack live situations.

Thanks guys.

Hey, I use logic 6, and know that version 7 is better, so i know the following:

It has the exsp sample player, it can play samples, but not create new ones. (but hey, there are millions of samples on the web. smile.gif

It has the new guitar amp, which lets you rock like you where using a real amp. (alot like guitarrig/amplitube. You can also use guitarrig and amplitube as plugins in logic.)

Interfaces: You MUST get an interface with good preamps, If you want to connect guitars directly into the computer and use the above mentioned plugins. Make shure the interface has xlr input for mic and phantom power.
Anything from the m-audio at 150 dollars to the digidesign mbox is good in the usb section. The mbox is also shipped with protools 6.4 le included wich is the best for recording audio. 400$ for the mbox with protools, amplitube le and sampletank. It also has awesome preamps for plpugging the guitar directly into the mac.
It can also export the audiofiles to a format you can use in logic later for mixing and adding awesome midi instruments.

Good interfaces: m-audio mobilepre, firewire410 and firewire1810, digidesign mbox digi002. HAven`t used anything else with a guitar jack in. Try oone of these.

Why am I talking so much about protools? pricing..
Logic express + audio interface=100$+2-300$
Mbox with protools =400$ (and the mbox works with all sequensers I´ve tried... smile.gif

hope this was abit helpfull.. good luck

stian

thanks for your reply. I've had some time to mull it over and I think I'm going to go with Logic Pro 7. Just makes more sense in the long run. The interface recommendations are very helpful though.

thanks again,
michael
