Hi guys.

For the meantime, I am getting the Ozone which is audi/midi interface.
I will be using an Ibook g4 for this with Tiger installed smile.gif got a 1GB RAM and 60GB.

I need some clarifications though before I plunged into the world of virtual studio smile.gif

I will for sure be limited since the Ozone has 25 keys only.. but having a keyboard with midi capabilities can expand my keyboard playing right? since i can hook it up to the ozone...like midi to midi?

re: virtual instruments.. ableton or other software will have preloaded instruments inside it right? and I can trigger them using the Ozone right? so what I play in ozone.. the sound it will produce out of it will be coming from the virtual instrument selected right? If i plan to record what I just played... lets say using a grand piano... i can save this recording as a 'grand piano' right? to be honest.. i think i know how these things work.. i just need to verify it since i haven't applied it smile.gif

5 years ago...smile.gif i would hook up my Korg workstation to the line in of my PC audio card and record it straight... then burn it as audio cd smile.gif hehe smile.gif good bye to expensive workstations i guess...

also .. i plan to use the m-audio to produce polyphonic ring tones for mobile phones.. would you know of a good software that will convert what i have just recorded in midi to polyphones? or does anyone here do that ? cause im sure the midi settings and its channel assignments must meet accordingly to have the right sound for polyphonic tones...

thanks so much for reading guys. i really appreciate it for all the help smile.gif .

Hi guys!

Please help me. I need all the recommendations that i can possibly get from this group..
Here's the scene:

I am a keyboardist[musician] and haven't used my keyboards with a Mac/Pc using Midi. I know what it can do but haven't tried it. I believe a midi interface is best for this setup. What is a good brand that will work with Mac since I will be soon exploring Mac as well.

Also, what is a good audio interface and a good software? Is Garage Band enough? Im not sure though if Gband supports midi.

I have read about M-audio. Is this a good brand? MOtu is a bit expensive smile.gif If there are complete starter kits out there, please let me know. Are there suppliers here? I am looking for a Sonar Power Studio-like gear that will work for Mac and PC.

Thanks for reading!

Best Regards,

dp
