I have just purchased Hit Kit. So this is the most basic question. How do I import a file to begin learning how to manipulate them?

I have visited the Hit Kit site with the guides. None address this most basic issue, however. From what I understand I need to go to file and select new. Then, an arrange window will open. Then, I need to select an audio track. I have gotten this far. Then, I am instructed to go to "audio" and select "import file." This is where the problem begins. When I do this I get a message that says, "Please select an audio track in an arrange window."

When I click on an audio track in the arrange window it is highlighted. Is this what I am supposed to do? Am I supposed to "select" it in a different way? One guide showed that each track had an "m" button for mute and an "r" button for "record." I don't have an "r" button." Is the r button what I am supposed to select? Is this why I can't import audio files?

Help please.

Thanks,

panchomac
