Home Media Setup

Hi All,

I'm a newbie when it comes to audio setup. Kindly excuse me if I ask silly questions . Tried searching but not yielding any useful result. Or maybe I didn't search right..

1. I've been tasked with setting up a home audio visual system, plasma/speakers in first hall, speakers in second hall (reading/resting), and speakers in all 4 bedrooms (different floors). How do I go about it? I thought of using the Mini at the center of it all w/ Airport Express but found that it can only have one room playing at a time, not all or selective combination. Extensive renovation has started, and ethernet cables will be run to all rooms. I'm thinking of taking this opportunity to run audio cables as well. Should I get a pro amp system with separate speakers and just plug the Mini to this amp? Any advice?

2. We see many solutions in Karaoke clubs using linux or win98 boxes for the karaoke functions/playing. Are we able to find a similar solution on the Mac?

Any advice will be greatly appeciated. And I do apologize if similar topics have been discussed previously. If so, kindly advise how and what keywords I may use to search for them. Thanks!
