Hi Folks,
[I posted this message in another MacMusic forum, but this may be the better place for it ] I love using Garageband on my MacBook Pro. I haven't hit a wall with it yet and don't expect to considering my fairly simple needs (recording demos for three and four piece bands). Right now we'd love to have a few simple, sparse blues shuffle beats to lock in with when we don't have a drummer for practice. The second choice on this page: http://www.dolphinstreet.com/backing_tracks/drum_loops/ is an example of what we're looking for but it's stuck at one tempo. Can someone suggest some places where I can download FREE blues shuffle beats that we can adjust for tempo? I've searched and mostly I find everything BUT this simple request. Thanks in advance. Hi,
I'm looking for a SIMPLE way to put chords and lyrics on staff. This is to help me develop walking bass lines for jazz standards. Please excuse me if this is a repeat of other's requests. Thank you, Bill Oetjen

Hi,
I use GB and a Presonus Firebox to record my band's live performances. I can't figure out how to quickly and efficiently take individual songs out of the session so that I can then mix & EQ them as separate songs. There has to be an obvious way that I'm missing in the documentation. Thanks for any support you can give. Bill

Hi Folks,
I've just about stretched my old hotrodded Pismo (G3 PB upgraded to 550 MHz G4, 1 gig ram, fast harddrive, Tiger) as far as it can go. This week I'm getting either a new Macbook (midlevel, with superdrive) or a MBP (entry level). One thing that I'm concerned with is that I've just started recording my band's rehearsals (soon, gigs) with a presonus Inspire, using Garageband, on the old Pismo. Either of the new 'books should handle the processing for editing, effects and exporting to mp3. Is there any compelling reason to go all the way with the MBP, or will the humbler 'book be just as nimble for these tasks? I'll tell you upfront that I'm leaning towards the MBP. I've gotten spoiled by the distinction of owning the Pismo (best damn laptop ever made) all these years. I know Apple will never make the mistake again of building something so eminently upgradable. Cuz, instead of buying new Apple computers, Pismo owners have been buying after-market processors, memory, harddrives and optical drives. This may be a more complicated question than it seems at first blush. I'd appreciate any thoughtful feedback. Thanks, Bill Oetjen [EDIT LPM there's a safe email link right on the left] |
