Logic Platinum 6.0 US$1430 (AU$2199)
Sounds expensive!
That's how much it costs in Australia.
Why so much? Who knows.

www.apple.com has it selling for US$699. I've seen it selling for US$579

Also other examples such as Emagic "Vinatge Collection" US$700 (AU$1099)
I can purchase the same product and have it sent by courier from the US for less than US$315 (AU$500) with no extra taxes needed to be paid either.

Maybe the prices are due to the"Electric Factory's" (Australian Importer) level of service and support.
NO.
I know many Australian composers who are pissed off with them for many reasons including not being able to get stock.
e.g. still waiting for Logic 6.0 upgrade after ordering at the initial release, waiting for over 4 months for products such as EXS24.

I provide tech support for many of Sydney's composers and I am now telling them to buy their products from overseas. The only thing that they gain from buying emagic products here is more debt.

While I'm at it Reason 2.5 can be purchased from the USA and sent by courier for less than US $315 (AU$500). Here it costs US$640 (AU$999).
or
Waldorf PPG Wave retails here for US$385. I've seen it selling for US$144.
Thanks to http://www.musiclink.com.au/

Why is this so?
Other distributors such as
http://www.audiochocolate.com.au/index.htm
http://www.svmedia.com.au/

seem to be able to place a fair price on their products, often they are cheaper here than in the USA.

Anyway enough ranting from me. I'm off shopping overseas.
