Hi.
I just got these new speakers for my laptop: Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speakers, and (to me) they sound phenomenal. They're the best pair of speakers I've ever owned. They've got a huge subwoofer, and two satellites. They're powered and they have their own pre-amp. But there's a problem... I was watching some DVDs and had the volume a bit lower than usual. I noticed a little snapping sound coming from the right speaker every so often. The right speaker is the control pod and has the pre-amp. After awhile, it was all I could hear cuz it was so annoying. So I listened close to each speaker and I noticed that the left speaker cuts to about half volume every so often, as well. This really sucks. I have a PowerBook G3. The speakers plug into the sound card through a regular 1/8'' jack. I've never had this problem with headphones. Assuming the speakers are good, is my connection bad? Am I getting 'monitor interference'? Is one speaker cutting out and the signal overloading the other speaker? What can I do? Would something like the Griffin iMic improve the signal/connection? I know next to nothing about physics of this voodoo. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks! Mike P.S. These speakers have a cool input jack--I can't wait to hook up an MD portable and try it out.

Hi.
I have a PowerBook G3 (Firewire) and I'm buying a MiniDisc recorder. I'd like to use the optical in on the recorder to transfer sound from the laptop to the recorder digitally. I know there are a few USB to optical solutions, but i was wondering if anyone knows of a PCMCIA card with an optical out. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Mike |
