Hi, this might be a really stupid question, but I need help regardless, so here I go!

I have Logic 7 and an M-audio midi controller (oxygen 8v2) - the oxygen has 10 controller knobs that I would love to use with the software synths in Logic 7 - can anyone give me some assistance with how to set up the controllers to modify the software synth settings (ie: cutoff / res / etc.)?

I can't seem to figure it out!

Thanks,
Chris Miller

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to use soundfonts on my Powerbook 17" G4. I can't even figure out if the built in audio card can handle soundfonts because i don't know what i've got built in. I have a Motu Firewire HD896 but i'm trying to use a notation program with soundfonts.

My main goal here is to be able to notate percussion parts for a drumline (marching snare drums, tenors, and bass drums) while accessing samples of a real marching line. There is a package for sale but it sais that I need a program and sound card which uses soundfonts (which i've never heard of before). I'd just like to know if Logic or Finale or even Sibelius would be able to pull this off on my Powerbook G4.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

I'm curious about the Motu 896HD working with my Powerbook G4 if I run an external firewire hard drive along with the 896. If anyone has ever done this, I would like to know if it works or not. I want to be able to keep all audio on the external drive (obviously), while also connecting the 896HD through firewire all on the laptop itself. I know my 17" powerbook is a good system, so it should be able to handle this setup, but I'm worried about the external hard drive being able to send / receive the data quickly enough all through firewire. I also have a firewire 800 port available, so I'm wondering if maybe I would need a firewire 800 drive instead of 400 to connect to a separate port?

If anyone has any comments / ideas please respond!

Thanks!
