I would like to disable any unnecessary items in my startup folder. I found this folder to be locked, but I can defeat this. Will I disable the system by deleting anything in the startup folder?
G4 Quicksilver, dual 1 GHz, OS 10.4.11, no network, no periferrals other than internal SCSI drive and Firewire audio interface. In short, this Mac does NOTHING but audio.
I have recorded three files using the two-track mastering template. They were recorded from a digital source, using the SPDIF input of my interface. The audio is in the Pool, the files open and display the audio in the project window, but nothing comes out when I attempt to play. I can open the Pool and try to preview the audio, no output. I can open the audio in iTunes and it plays through the interface. System sounds play through the interface. However, none of these files give any indication of levels at the meters within Cubase or at the interface. At one time at least one of these files played properly. What could've gotten reset to cause this?
Permissions repaired, the discs check out fine. Where is my patchbay when I need it? _________________ Quicksilver G4, dual 1GHz, 1.5MB, OS 10.4.11 Cubase LE, Alesis io14
OK, I read the rules, I'll try to be civil. Ever since the 90's, Y'all have told me what a great new world digital audio is, never mind what my ears told me. Gone are the days of aligning tape machines and cleaning heads. Also gone are the days of great sound and being able to plug anything into anything and have it work. I just spent three days configuring a digital system. I finally figured out that Cubase is seeing input on 5/6, not 1/2, as is the default. I get things happening from the SPDIF input of the interface, do some recording, fast forward to the next cut, then all heck breaks loose. It sounds like total crap, though the next selection is at a lower level. I quit, restart the computer, then there is nothing on the right channel. It's not as if I can swap cables to find the problem. I do love the editing capabilities, but for recording, I'll stick with my old Studer.
Has anybody used these plugins? Can you recommend them? I really only need the multi-band compressor, but can't afford the Waves bundle.
I have an Alesis io14 which refuses to communicate with the host (Mac G4, dual 1GHz, OS 10.4.11) I have reinstalled the driver, but still no FireWire communications. The port is working. It sees my laptop in Target Disc mode. Has anyone else solved this problem? How? I need to find out if the unit is defective.
