Cool Breeze Tutorials

I have recently purchased dp4 and am fustrated at the learning curve. It seems I spend more time delving through the manual than actually making music. Often by the time I find out how to do something (even simple things like turning off the snap feature) I have forgotten an idea. I have googled dp4 tutorials and so far the only one I have found is made by cool breeze. Does anyone have any experience with this tutorial or any other that would aid me?

Dp4 & Roland Jv Issue

Dear DP4 users,

I have a roland jv1080 & and MPC2000. I rcently purchased a mac & DP4 to do more audio work, but since I started out with it, I do most of my midi sequencing on the MPC. When it comes time, I dump the entire sequence into DP4 to further manipulate stuff. Here is my issue: anyone who has a roland module knows that all drum parts are all on channel 10. As a result when I record a sequence into DP4 I get all the midi notes channel 10 is emmiting which happen to be my entire drum track. I would like to be able to treat each drum part separatly (i.e a track for the snare, one for the kick etc) and apply effects on individual drum tracks rather than the whole group. Is there any way to separate them once they are in the sequencer?
A more generic version of this question is, Is there any way to separate a midi track into a series of tracks based on the trriggered notes?

The only way round that I can think of is to mute indiviual notes and record say 10 drum tracks one at a time, which would be a pain. (life is supposed to be made easier by computers, right )

I am looking for a decent mdi editor with which to control my various modules and synths. Any recommendations?

I sequence with digital performer so i was leaning towards unisyn just for compatibility issues but from what I have read around the net, it is not a very good program. Has anyone had experience with this or any other editor?

Mac G4 Laptop And Digital Performer

Hello,

I am looking at a G4 Titanium laptop at with 128 MB ram and a 500 MHz processor. My question to all the mac experts out there is will this machine be able to cope with digital performer 4? I plan on getting a memory uprade and an extra firewire drive to actually record to eventually but this will have to do for the moment. I have a good offe for it at the moment- do you think this machine is worth buying?

Titanium G4/500 For Audio Recording?

Hello all,

I have decided to kick the PC habit and migrate to a mac for my audio work. The trouble is the macs are rather expensive. Yes, yes i know you get a lot more stablility, compatablility etc with a mac but unfortunately my back manager does not see things my way.

I am looking to buy a refurbished titanium powerbook g4/500 wit a 10 GB hard drive and 128 MB RAM. Are these specs too low to run say digital performer? Do you recommend a used laptop to sequence midi and record audio with? Spce is an issue with me so i try and save it where i can.
