I am thinking of purchasing the Presonus Firepod, a firewire interface that has gotten some really good reviews. This product comes with Cubase LE. I'm wondering if the software will work well with my Imac. If so, it will save me money in buying something like Logic Express. My recording needs are fairly simple. Strictly audio. I've heard negative things, though, about Cubase SE in combination with macs and am wondering if the same problems would occur with Cubase LE. Any help is appreciated.
Others have been talking about audio interfaces and the issues of usb and firewire. Latency seems enough of an issue in usb that firewire offers the better solution. But which one? The firewire 410 has gotten a lot of negative feedback. The Motu is an excellent product but too expensive for a hobbyist like myself. What about Presonus' firebox, the scaled down version of the firepod? Any user reviews or comments?
I assume firebox would work with Logic. I know it comes with Cubase SE, which I understand demands a lot from your computer.
I am thinking about purchasing an Mbox to record audio. I'm fine with recording only two inputs at once, but am concerned about latency issues when recording over existing tracks. Sounds like a real drag. Is this a big issue? Was there some fix for this problem in Pro Tools LE 6.4?
Would you actually recommend any other setup for my simple recording needs? Primarily acoustic guitar, voice, bass, and some percussion. I'd like a relatively simple DAW and a reliable interface. Several people have recommended Logic Express, but others have said it is complicated to learn. I have messed around with Audacity and was pleased with its ease of use but am unsure about a compatible audio interface. My internal mic on the Imac sounded decent but certainly not of the quality one can get from a good condenser mic.
Your help is much appreciated.
Hey, all!
I am going to purchase Logic Express 6 and am wondering if, using the Firewire 410 interface, 10.2.8 is a good match. Some people have told me to upgrade to 10.3.3 but since it is more money, I don't want to do so unless 10.2.8 will be a problem. Thanks for the help.
Hey, all!
I've been debating obsessively about purchasing Protools via the mbox or Logic Express. After learning recently that I can pick up Logic Express for $149 through the mac educator discount, the choice seems clear to me. I also won't be tied to the usb interface of the mbox and instead will probably go with a firewire 410.
My question, though, is whether it is advisable to upgrade my os to Panther. Right now I'm running 10.2.8 and am very satisfied with it, but of course I want to know what Logic Express will like best.
Thanks
