I am planning on buying a small studio setup soon using a G4 with a Yamaha 01V digital desk. I have decided to connect the two using the optional ADAT interface and was wondering if anyone could tell me whether the RME hammerfall would be a decent card to use for this purpose.
I had previously considered using a MOTU 2408 or a Digi oo1 but I do not require the additional analouge inputs or the AES/EBU ones so I thought it was pointless to spend all that extra cash.
I hear that the Hammerfall has extremely low latency (around 1.5ms at best) is this true? If you can think of a reasonably priced interface or card that would suit my ADAT needs then let me know.

I am about to buy a new G4 running LAP and am planning on running the waves gold native bundle to keep my outboard gear down to a minimum. I am planning on using a new 733 G4 with the RAM increased to 1GB but will this be enough power to run the plugins effectively over multiple audio tracks?
Is it true that a DP 450 Mac would be better for VST plugins and if so should I buy a second-hand DP G4 for running waves?
