Best Audio I/o For Mac G5

I am building a new studio funded by my company so money is no obeject.

1) What is the best, top of the line, AD/DA converter and Audio I/O that is compatible with MAC G5 Panther.

2) If I am suping up my MAC with 8GB of RAM is it still necessary to buy additional DSP Cards for my VST processing? Ifo so, what is the difference between the two?

How Do You Get Firewire Midi To Be Seen By Os9???

I have the following:

Mac G4 TiBook
OS9
Logic 6.0
MOTU 828 MK2

Am I blind? I can not get Logic to send and recieve midi data from my 828 MK2? It does it automatically in OSX. But in OS9 there is nothing. What do I do? The only midi options in Logic are for USB and Parallel port, not firewire.

Help!!
