I just bought cubase 5 VST32, and am seeing that the getting started and supplimental manuals are pretty bad at explaining how to use this program. Ive never used programs like this but I am very anxious to learn. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good online tutorials or sites with how tos of cubase. ALso, im just wondering, to make drum beats on cubase, do i need a vst drum machine instrument, or is there already a good way to make beats built in to cubase? Im new to all this vst stuff. Thanks alot.

I just bought an imic to use with my mac. However, im now finding things saying that you cant hear it realtime because it has latency or lag, and stuff like that. Does anyone here use the imic to record music with, and if so, how can you record songs if it has lag? You wouldnt be able to hear what you are doing along with what you have already recorded, so it sounds like you would be in the dark...am i right about this?. I am basically wondering if this thing is just a piece of crap and i should send it back. Im really not ready to shell out a ton for a soundcard, and just wanted something decent to record vocals, guitars, etc with. But if i cant start recording my songs, then this computer is useless. I have cubase and protools free and am using a roland mic. If anyone can help me out i would greatly appreciate it. I basically want to see if anyone has actually made real songs with the imic on music programs, or is it just used for doing stuff like imovie and recording messages or something? any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks alot.

I need audio input for my g4 tower. I dont want to spend alot. Im wondering about the quality of the imic...i dont have to have perfect quality..just good. Is the soundblaster soundcard better? Ive heard there are glitches with the OS system. Basically, im wondering if im gonna be really disappointed with the imic and should just save up for like an audiophile or something better. But if the imic is pretty decent then i wouldnt mind. I want the music to sound good..but dont have the resources to get one of those $300+ cards. Ive heard there might be something in the $100 range...if so is it that much better than the $35 imic? Thanks so much for your time. ANy info is greatly appreciated. jjj

hello. I know people talk alot about audio cards and midi inputs in this forum..but i cant find info specific to my situation. Basically...ive decided to get the new G4 733 tower. But i dont know if it comes with a decent sound card already built in. I am buying the computer for the sole purposes of recording my music and doing artwork with audio..so sound is important obviously. The cost of the computer itself is basically gonna make me broke..so id like to not have to spend much more if possible. So anyone know if i need to get a soundcard for this computer...and if so.. any suggestions on a fairly cheap (under $100 hopefully) but good quality soundcard or sound input. I need one midi in also...dont know if midi comes with most soundcards or not. I would probably only record one sound at a time..maybe two if possible. so basically can anyone help me find the cheapest way to have audio and midi input? thanks so much for your time. justin

I am about to buy a new mac. My budget is under $2000 for the computer itself. Ive found the 400 G4 powerbook and the 733 G4 tower to be priced about the same. Obviously, the 733 tower is alot faster than the powerbook im looking at. But it seems that bjork, radiohead, etc... all talk about using powerbooks all the time. I know that having a portable unit would be great ease for transportation. But I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on which i should get. Are there any advantages to the powerbook (other than portability, which is quite limited with the tower) over the tower? Also, i know that ill need some audio input..which ive seen is discussed on this site quite alot. Im just wondering if this would play into which computer i get. Im interested in getting a soundinput thats pretty cheap but still decent. Do these come on the towers? Or do you always have to buy a sound input seperate? FUrthermore...i would like to use my computer as a sampler...any suggestions on this? what software is good or would one be wise to just buy a separate sampler? any info contributed would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much. justin
