What low cost options would you recommend?

I've already got my Mac G4 setup, what music s/w would you recommend?

& what hardware would you recommend eg. Audio card, Audio devices & so on.

Newbie To Music Software

I'm about to purchase a new Mac Computer and Edirol MIDI Controller, in a basic attempt to start putting together a small home studo.

I wanted to work with a Music Production s/w setup that would best help me learn and succeed in that arena. Between Logic and the Pro Tools, which would you recommend and why?

Are there any other s/w that you would recommend instead or in addition to?

Samplers Or S/w Studio's?

I'm confused.

Whas the difference between: Fruity Loops, GigaSampler and HALion?

Like, what do they do and what's gives one prominence over another?

What is it that they each do or are specialized for? What sets each one apart from the other?

Can someone plaease explain to me in lay terms the difference between:

an audio editor, a sequencer, a digital audio workstation, a sample editor software with mastering tools.
