I have been using Voodoo (Bitheadz drum MIDI machine) on the Mac (system 9.1) to trigger imported AIFF sounds through a MIDI controller.

I recently bought an M-Box and I am in the process of learning Pro Tools LE 5 & 6..... I was hoping to take advantage of the Mac OSx on my powerbook and desktop machine, but Voodoo may never be upgraded to a native OSx version.....

Voodoo has a simple Sequencer and sample function built-in; However, it is not a very robust program, and sometimes crashes when making minor adjustments to the imported samples...... I tried e-mailing Bitheadz and continue to bug them about the possibility of them updating this software...

Is there anything else that even comes close to VOODOO on the Mac for OSX????

Would Phrazer? or Unity do what I want to do??? (create loops and beats and rhythm tracks)

Voodoo offers me 14 individual MIDI triggers and the ability to import MIDI files to jam along with and record over. It also allows me to import a variety of formats to use as TRIGGERED sounds.... Voodoo also shipped with some very nicely recorded samples and beats to mess around with......

All this is just too good..... but, it is not in OSX????

Are there any Sample libraries for Drums worth purchasing....??????
I downloaded a ton of shareware samples from a variety of internet sites.... but, I would consider purchasing samples if they were really exceptional......

I also own a DM-5 by Alesis, which I would love to be able to integrate into my MIDI studio using some Patch bay or sound module software that I could hook all my MIDI devices to.

A while ago, I was hopin that Alesis or a third party company would be offering a Sound bank software for controlling hardware modules, but that never evolved for the mac....... (sposin, i should check with Alesis)

I OWN 3 MACS..... ROLAND 24 BIT VX MIXER..... DM-5 w/pintech pad controllers....

my macs.... (1) G4 933 mhz ..... (1) G3 beige w/G4 chip.... (1) G4 Titanium powerbook

All (3) MACS have FIREWIRE... & USB.... (beige has usb/firewire pci card..)

WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR A DRUMMER TRYING TO GET BANG FOR THE BUCK.....??????

THESE WERE MY TOP CHOICES....

M-BOX w/ pro tools LE
TASCAM US-224 w/ Cubasis
M-AUDIO FIREWIRE 410 (soon to be released)
EMI- 2/6/M (not sure about this one)

I am mainly interested in sending PDIF out from my mixer into my computer for recording or
perhaps doing 1 or 2 track multi-track recording.....

I dont need anything over the top.... and figured USB might be just fine for my situation....

IS USB OK??? or am I making a bad mistake by leaning towards the M-BOX????

SHOULD I JUMP ON THE FIREWIRE BANDWAGON with the M-AUDIO 410????

Do I really NEED FIREWIRE????

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED
