Hi,
I'm really trying to get an answer from anyone who is using a 2009 13" or 15" MacBook Pro and a FireFace 800 to see if you have any compatibility issues with the interface and the Mac's firewire chipset.
There are lots of threads around, including the RME forum, that says with some 2008 and early 2009 MBPs there are issues with the chipset and you need a workaround such as using a firewire repeater cable or a hub. I'm not sure if this is a problem limited to the FireFace 400 and the 800 or just the 400?
Can anyone please advise me from a 'hands-on' practical point of view?

Hi, First post and I really need some advice on the best option for me. I currently run a Mac Mini via USB > Benchmark USB DAC1 > Dynaudio Air monitors - only for two channel playback. I know this is probably not the best way to interface between a Mac and an active pair of monitors that can accept AES/EUB - digital XLR. The Benchmark DAC1 is adding a layer of conversion that is not needed. What is the best way to go Mac optical out and convert to AES/EUB digital XLR? I have seen a possible solution: http://www.mutec-net.de the MC1? Or are there other more suitable options? Also, is there a way to go Firewire 800 > AES/EUB - XLR? Any advice?? Thanks, MontyW
