Going Live, planning on using a powerbook live Options

Hi,

i'm a pc user. i compose all my tracks on a desktop with jeskola buzz (freeware - but damn good) Now, buzz is the most unstable program ever, so i can't use it live. (or hardly) i was thinking of converting it into samples/sequences and using it in ableton live. Since ableton works both on ordinary laptops and powerbooks, And powerbooks are more stable i was thinking of buying one.
After that i'm planning to learn to use logic. (which should be ok - i'm using pc for all my music needs over 5 years and i'm starting to know how to work with most programs)

So, is it worth it? Will the powerbook (just the 'cheapest' one, 1ghz/512ram/ you know the 12inch one) be good enough to perform live?

But i was wondering about this
And will it be good enough to record for example guitar? or do i need an extra audio interface? I'd also like to do live guitar processing.. is the latency not to big? does powerbook g4 support Asio?..

any any help is greatly appreciated!

well, I don't understand your theory that powerbooks were more stable than ibooks... but really the fastest ibook would be suitable enough for live stuff as well.

yes you will need some type of audio interface for the laptop too... which one depends on your demands. If you are serious about live guitar processing... you might want to consider the MOTU 828 mkii because it has its own dsp and can work as a stand alone mixer... that may help alleviate the latency issue but probably not totally... there will always be a little latency and depending on interface and software... it could get worse or better.

I suggest calling www.sweetwater.com and talk to a sales rep about your plans and they will be able to tell you what works best for your situation. They are really knowledgable people because almost all have been in the music business in some form whether musician or recording engineer.
