Hi,
I was wondering if there was any way to use a television as a second monitor, not just an identitacl image of my notebook display. I use an iBook 600 with the TV adapter, and the adapter itself works fine, it's just that it might be handy to be able to use it in the way I described above.

I'm not sure what kind of display I have, but I THINK it's a Rage ATI or something..

Thanks for the help,
Vollrath

I think a mirrored image of your notebook is the only way you could use TV without adding another video output device that may cost several hundred dollars and is not worth it really considering the cost of just buying another cheap monitor. Also consider the resolution of the TV which is horrible compared to even the cheapest 15" monitors these days as TV is something like 512pixels wide and thousands of colors compared to millions unless you have digital HDTV. I could be wrong about the video output of the notebook though but I don't think it can do dual monitors without special video card or additional device.

If you are on OS X go to system prefs and then to displays. Click on arangment and un check mirror displays. This should work on your 16 meg video card. My pismo only has 8 megs and I use a 2nd monitor everyday for expanded desktop space. It is possible the ibook doesn't support this, you didnt say which model you had. I believe there are three. Good luck

the ibooks unfortunetly only have monitor mirroring (you see the same as whats on you lcd) the powerbooks have dual monitor capabilities (which is what you want for a larger workspace)
