If you buy the 828 MK-II you'll get Audidesk 2, for free with it. Audiodesk will no doubt be able to handle your digital audio demands. ( no midi though )
With 828 you get "no latency" dsp cue mixing, up to four independent routable stereo mixes. It can act as a standalone mixier/DA-converter as well. All in all a great and rather affordable piece of gear.
If you need to do midi as well upgrade from Audiodesk to DP4, for 149$. DP4 is a great piece of software.

Hey Dixiechick, Thanks for the reply.......I just want to clarify. All of the upgrade prices for DP4 from Audiodesk that I have seen have been for over $300.....where have you seen the $149 you speak of? thats a good deal....i think i will need to have midi because i definately want to use Reason in my mixes and recordings Also, I like the idea of the 896 having 8 preamps and XLR/TRS combo inputs, cuz i think i want to record whole bands......but have heard that digital preamps aren't that good......hmmmmm Thanks again...peace

You are right - my mistake. On Motu:s website the upgrade from Audiodesk to full DP4 is 395$ 149$ would have been a great value. Really sorry to have mislead you & perhaps given you false hopes. Still if upgrade to/buy DP4 now you will qualify for the free update to 4.1. 4.1 have support for AudioUnit plugins, digidesigns DAE-engine & TDM systems, have virtual tracks feature and more. Read about it at - http://www.motu.com/english/other/press/index.html. By the reports I've seen on this forum and Unicornation it seems that Reason 2.5 works really great with DP4. ( except for a few instances reports have been glowing ) I run DP-4.0.1 myself and it is an awesome program - except for the sheet music/notation part - that seems very weak in comparison with all the rest in the program. Some 15 years ago I used Opcodes Vision a LOT, from comments in this & other boards it seems as if old Vision users like me, tend to feel right at home in DP4. Perhaps one of the strongest features in DP4 is the automation feature, you can automate just about anything in a mix. Anyway good luck to you, I apologize again for misleading info on upgrade pricing. Cheers: Dixiechicken
