I was just wondering if anyone new of some good options for a band in a box type program on X. I use Reason on a g4 powerbook 800mhz w\an oxygen 8 and Im looking for something that I can import my finished Reason tracks into to give it some extra melody. No vst host here, so that's not an option for me.Thanx.

band-in-a-box is not the right place to add extra anything to any sort of tracks.

to my mind, biab is all about having a little robot band to practice with and nothing more past that really. it's like 'here are my chord changes and here's the style, now you little robots rock out for a while so i can practice my trumpet solo' or something like that.

if you were running Reason in a low cost vst host like Ableton Live or the Logic Bigbox then maybe something like Virtual Guitarist would be a way to flesh things out without too much labor intensive inputting.

it seems like a problematic question though. by 'give it some extra melody' i suppose you're looking for the type of basic playalong that biab does. maybe you could use biab in conjunction with something like Audio Hijack (which just records whatever sound is coming from your mac) and then put that on middle C in an NN19 in Reason or something?
