In the next few days my first Apple will arrive:
867 single quicksilver 1.12G Ram 60g HD Radeon 9000 pro 15" Apple LCD (till I can afford the 23) I was hoping to move to Digital Performer 4 w/Peak 3.0(4.0 whens it out). My studio consists of Akai MPC2000xl controlling Nord Lead Rack 2 Access Virus A Emu Morpheus Akai s5000 into Allen & Heath wz20s mixer with TL Audio 5051 valve processor and DeltaLab Effectron III (also a low end reverb I am going to sell) I have playing around with breaks and filtery analog and want to have a ton of control for the studio bits as well as a way to cut up bits to make my own loops. I have a lot of tracker experience. Any advice on good software to get for sound design and MAS plugins, even Softsynths. Who knows... Scott |

Logic vs DP seems to be a popular discussion.
Here is what I intend to do on my mac: Slice and dice audio and arrange in graphically, similar to and including Time Correction Record Audio synced to external sequencer via midi Record vocals and arrange as audio, sliced, diced and f/x'd Record Midi and Then Mix it into a format suitable for performance using an MPC2KXL Track Drums graphically using a software drum sampler like Battery or Kontakt or etc which will become loops to load into a sampler, again for live performance Resample Effected parts and use their reverb and delay "tails" as new audio. I like the Freeze function in DP, but I have never used Logic or DP so it will be a new game. The idea of getting around having an older QS instead of the curred MDD powerhouses, strikes me well. Does Logic have a similar feature? What are the unique features of either prog? Scotty |
