Devon Dotson will have a special opportunity coming his way this weekend.

The KU basketball sophomore point guard received an invite to the CP3 Elite Guard Camp and was listed on the roster for the college attendees — as was shared in a tweet by The Athletic s Andrew Slater.

The CP3 Elite Guard Camp is a chance for players across the country — at both the high school and college levels — to work out with one of the most statistically accomplished point guards in NBA history and future Hall of Famer in Chris Paul, who now plays with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Paul, of course, was traded for former Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook earlier this month.

For more on the event, here is how the camp s website describes the opportunity

The CP3 Elite Guard Camp annually features the top 30 high school point guards from around the country including the top players from his home state of North Carolina and the top 15 college point guards for an intense three day training camp with Chris overseeing each session. Players are tutored from Chris on everything from skill development to film breakdown to life skills. Current and former NBA Coaches and Elite High School Coaches round out the staff to provide a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Dotson is coming off a standout freshman season in which he started all 36 games for the Kansas Jayhawks and averaged 32.4 minutes per contest. Dotson, who posted 12.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, shot 53.3 percent on 2 point field goals https://www.kansasjayhawksshop.com/dwight-c...ersey-c-12.html, 36.3 percent on 3 point field goals and 78.2 percent on free throws last year.

Among the North Carolina native s top performances were a 25 point https://www.kansasjayhawksshop.com/tyler-se...ersey-c-10.html, 10 rebound, five assist, two steal outing against TCU in which Dotson helped the Jayhawks to a road win in overtime. He also posted 20 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals in a home victory against Texas Tech. Dotson reached double figures in scoring in 24 different contests. He scored fewer than eight points in a game only six times in his freshman campaign.

Following the season, Dotson declared for the NBA Draft and tested out at the NBA Draft Combine. On the final day for players to pull their name out of the draft and return to college, he announced he was coming back to Kansas for his sophomore season. Dotson later told reporters he was given a few areas that he could stand to improve.

I would say just [being] more consistent with my outside shot, creating space with my shot, just different ways of getting into it, Dotson said. I would say better decision making out there on the court https://www.kansasjayhawksshop.com/clay-you...ersey-c-11.html, quicker decision making.

Dotson will be changing his jersey number next season Malik Newman Jersey, as he will go from the No. 11 he wore as a freshman to No. 1, the same number sported by one of his favorite basketball players growing up in Derrick Rose. Rose wore that number when he played with the Chicago Bulls.
