hello,
I just switched from pc to mac, and I "unfortunately" connected usb2 devices to the usb3 ports on my new mac mini, so how do I now reconfigre the usb ports back to usb3 speed again for my new usb3 devices? regards øivind jønland. http://en.440forums.com/forums/style_image...cons/icon14.gif |

as i understand it, the new mini's USB3 ports will work with USB2 when plugged to a USB2 device, yes. however, your post seems to suggest they somehow lock themselves to that speed after that. a quick look at Apple's support pages seems to say otherwise.
one way to check is to use the hardware system profiler. it'll show what drives are connected, and at what speeds. i'll be interested to hear an update on what you discover. |

ok,so far no luck.
the 4 usb ports are stuck in their initial speed setup, that are: port 1 hi-speed port 2 super-speed port 3 and 4 hi-speed. any good tips to reconfigure the speeds? regards øivind. |

When houstonmusic says: "i got nothin'. call Apple Support?" or other 440 "Whizz Kidz", i.e., lepettitmartian don't Reply, You have 'Serious Issues!!'... You mentioned you're a former PC User, perhaps you are expecting something unobtainable? You mentioned you're working with a Mini? Don't expect a Mini to perform like a Porsche.

I thought it was all based on the cables and devices, once you are connecting to a USB 3 capable port. Are you sure everything is capable of doing superspeed?

hi again.
I think I have some answers now. I seems to me that system information in the apple menu is not updating itself. Here are my result with the speed test on my 3 usb3 external disks: verbatim usb3 hdd : 30/60. (read/write as displayed on the large meters). ssd1 : 160/180. ssd2 : 170/185. all 3 were tested on usb1 port. system info still lists usbport1 as hi-speed. so, I guess things work ok then, or am I missing something.? regards øivind. |

if you have to reset ports, you must make a general rest of the computer. Procedures may vary and involve unplugging stuff and press the start button on the computers built for a few years now. You can find the exact procedure on Apple help database webstie. Search with your peculiar model, if it's a generic name (like Mac Mini), check the model issue date, it'll help. http://everymac.com/ may help you find it.
