G'day guys!
I own a Yamaha Clavinova and an M-Audio USB to MIDI interface and ideally I'd like to use the great piano presets from Logic and Garageband and then use the Yamaha's speakers as an output so I can hear these great piano sounds on something other than my computer speakers - Is there any way I can use the MIDI output as an audio output or do I have to use a guitar lead or something similar? Thanks Guys |

you'll have to use a guitar lead, or something similar. midi cables can't/don't/won't carry audio.
but there may be an 'external audio' input on the back of your clavinova. that would take an audio lead from your computer. i do this with one of my keyboards, a roland, from time to time. latency will be an issue. you'll have a very short lag from the keystroke to the note. it may be completely fine, but if it's a problem, you'll be fiddling with the 'buffer size' in logic to tweak it. smaller buffers yield lower latency. and are more CPU intensive. good luck |
