hi all,
back in the days of OS9 i used the free Protools software (LE?) to record midi using my yamaha piano & midiman interface.
Are there any free equivalents that I can 'record' midi on OSX?
apologies for the noob question!!

Well every mac's comes with Garageband so that's a nice start. Furthermore you can find a lot of midi tools at: http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/mac/MIDI_PLAYERS_UTILITIES/regards

thanks for the replies.
I had a look on the audacity site and it says it doesn't support recording midi, unfortunately.
also, my mac is so old (titanium g4 laptop!) that it didn't come with garageband.
any other ideas?
I just want to record midi and possibly edit any wrong notes afterwards ;-)
thanks

Have a look at Aria Maestosa: http://ariamaestosa.sourceforge.net/If that doesn't do it for you, try doing searches for "midi" and/or "midi editor" at: http://sourceforge.netand http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/G'luck PS- Oh yeah, and you should also update your OS to at least 10.2.8 if you haven't already done so... The all-in-one updater is bit of a wad at just under 100 megs, but it's well worth doing and free from apple.com.
