When GB first came out I bought the first Jam Pack and was amazed at all the additional sounds, instruments, amp simulations, etc. However, I didn't play with it much. Fast Forward to iLife 08 and I decided to start playing again. Bought Symphony and wanted to add some of the stuff I remembered from Jam Pack 1 and now find that it is not recognized by GB 08. Am I doing something wrong? Any workarounds?

Thanks,
Bob Adamson

Is the original Jam Pack still on your hard drive? If it is, you may just need to re-link it to GB. To do this, open up GB and have the loop browser showing. Use finder to navigate to your Jam Pack folder and drag and drop to the loop browser in GB.

Should do the trick. HTH.

The drag and drop should still work if the loop files are still there; the apple loops are still in the same format as always, as they are not application files. If it was an old application you were trying to use then you would be in trouble. Apple loops are simply a format like mp3 or .wav and will not be affected by the PowerPC-intel change so if you can find them, or just use the old installer to install just the JamPack content onto the new machine, it should be easy peasy.

and if the installer proves to be stubborn and won't let you even install the content there may be a work around. does the cd mount at all> if so see if you can find the content files on it throungh the finder and then drag them to your desktop. alternatively if you still have the old machine you could network them and copy accross or justburn a cd of the old jampacks and transfer them. If all of that fails you may be able to control-click the GB installer icon and if it has the option to 'show package contents' in the contextual menu that appears select that. Installers are after all just a set of files and an install script that tell your computer where to put everything; so the Jampacks should be inside somewhere. This last option is a bit fiddly but if you want them that bad then it shouldn't be too difficult to find them. you may find a 'Content' file or 'Package' that requires you to control-click again to get inside it.

GOOD LUCK biggrin.gif
