Hey community,
I am currently working on recording a four minute classical guitar piece on DP 4 for Mac and at times, not always, I hear very much distortion in the headphones during playback. When this has happened in the past I usually restart my computer thinking that would solve the problem and it has in most cases, but not in this case. The distortion sounds like loud cracks and pops. As the dynamic range in the recording changes, so does the distortion. How do I eliminate this problem for good? My mics are perfectly fine during recording, the problem only persists during playback. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Gear being used: Digital Performer 4
Presonus Firepod 8 channel firewire interface
AT4040 condenser microphone
AT2020 condenser microphone

Wot he said.... ^ Sounds like a buffer size problem or mismatch.

Check the audio settings in both DP and your presonus control panel, if they are excessively low, or just perhaps too low for your mac to handle, then thats your problem. As you haven't listed what mac you have as part of your equipment list, its is hard for me to make a recommendation on the correct buffer size to use. Also what audio quality are you going for? 44.1, 48 or 96khz.
