I Have a G4, 933 MHz, 512 MB RAM, running OSX Panther. A beginner. Want to get into high quality production with primary focus on software synths (space music, strings, drums). I am seeking suggestions on sound card, MIDI keyboard, software, other devices. Middle to higher end budget. Envision lots of tracks. Have checked out Absynth. Would greatly appreciate help on putting together a good system. Thanks!

Hi Terrywil
I have quite afew soft synths and have found all of them good!--they all do something slightly different so it's worth getting as many as possible!
the only one I found rather too much of a "novelty" was theM=Tron which reminded me why I was glad that the mellotron passed away!
The Spectrasonics are great--Atmosphere/Stylus/Trilogy
XPhraze--amazing!!
D'Cota is excellent--very varied sounds and Absynth brilliant if you like weird sounds--very good for getting started on a track
cheers

When seeking PAD or STRING sounds you won't get anywhere near as lush as atmosphere..heavy CPU load but so big and evolving...superb.

Also try Linplugs Albino synth... great presets so you get good idea about it fast. More flexible than access virus.
