Our member lucace2002 has a weird problem
QUOTE (lucace2002) Greetings! I have a G4 Dual 533, with OS 10.3.9 installed. It is used for games and other non-music related things. I also have a G5 Dual 2.7 with OS 10.4.10 installed. This is my music only computer. They share a keyboard and a monitor. They are joined by a Belkin FLIP Switcher, Model # F1DG102U. This system has worked fine for about 2 years now. However, when I installed the new aluminum keyboard, the Switcher went wacky, switching back and forth, on and off etc... I even tried shutting off both computers, and installing the keyboard with them both turned off. As soon as they were booted up, the Switcher went wacky on me again. I have contacted Mac, but they were not any help. Belkin suggested some software that put a Switcher Button up in my top menu bar. This software did not help. I would sincerely appreciate any help that anyone is able to offer. Thank you for your time. It can be a lot of things triggered by the new keyboard. Now the obvious: - Have you applied?this Apple update? - Apple states for the alu keyboard: Mac computer with available USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 port Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later Keyboard software update So your G4 is not compatible as it is in 10.3.9, AppleCare should have seen it!!! - So try the switch, on a spare drive, of the G4 in 10.4.10. If the issue ie < Just in case, other ideas… - Something ugly in the partnership switcher/keyboard (if Apple and Belking can't help…) - Something ugly in the volatile settings of the macs, try a PRAM/NVRAM reset on both computers. - One thing: have you unplugged everything? so that everything is not powered (give it half an hour), not linked then replug. If a bad voltage level is somewhere hiding in a condensator, it can clear it out. - check that the connectors are all fine That's what I can see… I strongly recommend in case it goes nowhere that you post your problem on Apple own forums and on Belkin if they have one, as if others have the issue they will find it (they'll find here too, but it's good to let Apple engineers know something is fishy even if AppleCare has no answer, Apple forums are read by their engineers, seriously). Just be factual there are some very knowledgeable persons hanging there too. -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home
