Hey
Ok, so now i have checked the console out. No pots or faders scratch and everything seems to be working except the link from channel 17 to main. The meter responds and everything but the path to the mains out is broken. If it where a 1 channel strip i could remove it and perhaps either fix it or put is as number 32. But since its a 8 channel strip i really cant do that. Also could it be a sign that something more is wrong or will be wrong in a short time? Its been used at a productionschool for 8 years and then bought by the present owner. It looks a bit used but nothing criminal.
What do you say? Is it worth buying? He has the manual and service manual exept one sheet. Without pressurering him he has offered it to me for 9000 dkr (1700 usd/850 pounds) incl. a stand and an old tascam 2x16 patchbay. He's a young kid and doesnt know much about it.
Any thoughts?

Citation (Jim Hoyland @ Fri 14 Sep 2007, 13:49) I haven't used this console, but from a quick glance at the literature it would seem that there is a direct out on every channel which is post gain but pre-eq and insert.
There are 8 group outs, to which any channel can be assigned using busses and pan controls - these can therefore be used to track 8 individual channels post-eq and insert, or indeed any number of channels that are bussed to a particular group.
The level at the group output will therefore be set by the individual channel and the level of the group fader.
There are also insert points for each group.
As a true "in-line" console, its probably best to describe this desk as 32-8-32.
Hope this helps! I am selling the Tascam M2600 Mk2! If anyone is still interested please email me at [removed email, use the SAFE email link on the member's profile] or call me at (516) 578-2098. This is a serious offer and I am selling it for a great price. I live on Long Island so we would have to figure out shipping. Please contact me!

I have recently obtained a Tascam M-2600 MK II Mixing console. As I was hooking up and testing the console today I have run into a few issues. First issue is that when I first turn the system on I get a very loud squeeling sound coming from my control room monitors. The squeeling gets higher pitched and then finally goes away after about 2 -3 minutes that the console is on. Second, I am getting a good bit of static from the console through my control room monitors and through the mains. While using the console there seems to be a "sweet spot" between the L-R main fader and the volume pot for the control room monitors. What I mean by this is that I can set the L-R fader at a certian level and turn the vol pot for the monitors and find a certian spot where the static is minimal, but when I move either the pot or the fader the static comes back. Also, with both the slider and the pot turned completely down the static is pretty loud. Lastly, all the while the unit is on, the leds for the groups will flicker without any signal to them.
That's all I have now. Any information regarding these matters would be helpful.

{JBassman, Thursday April 16, 2009. 22:13 I have recently obtained a Tascam M-2600 MK II Mixing console}
Yo, JBassman. It's been awhile since I have attempted to offer any suggestions in 440 Forums. My suggestions ALWAYS seem to be more novice than I actually am, BUT, I will try. Is your Tascam M-2600 MK II new or used? If new return it ASAP. If it is used have it Serviced ASAP. Once that has been established/solved we will discuss Monitor Placement, Control Room/Talkback Microphone. I have left one on and it is ugly. However, from what I can gather, it's the Mixing Console. If it's new, it can be sorted/resolved. If it is used, you have GOT to have it SERVICED.

Well it is a used console. So I guess I am going to have to break down and have the thing serviced.
