QUOTE (mortalengines @ Sat 8 Dec 2007, 20:05) I am starting to hear of some younger hip hop artists actually using Garage Band....if you are talking about entry level kind of stuff, that is a great place to start. Otherwise, Reason, or Ableton Live would work just fine for what you want to do (loop based production, sampling, and the odd synth line). Ableton now makes an LE version of its software for only 150 bucks....not bad. If you want to be "all street" about it though, you will need to invest in an Akai MPC workstation. None of your hip hop homies will give you any "respec" with out it, Dog.
www.myspace.com/mortal_engines the Akai MPC is more like a Stage worthy piece of equipment, you can actually play it. Garage Band is Very Kewl It replaced my Q-80 and my Opcode Studio Vision When I first used it it seemed all the stuff I did on it was Hip hop type stuff. it is way too easy to do Hip Hop with it. it took me a while before I got back to Sequencing my K2000 and recording My Prog Rock on Garage Band ~ If you want to drop hip hop songs like a couple of Bunnies in a cage Go with Garage Band ~ But if you want to play it Live your going to need a controller, Midi Keyboard or midi pads like the Akai MPC
