Hi!

Since you're using a MAcIntel, I would suggest the MOTU Universal Audio driver.
Hope this will help.
By the way, happy new year 2007.

Well i don't think so, i was just looking for a proper driver as i m going to buy a MacMini Intel, and i found some post at MacRumors Forums, about somebody who had some trouble with that driver.
Universal Audio and Universal Binary are probably not much defining the same thing!
It seems the MOTU site is (or at least was, i didn't check it) not very clear about what to do.
There is an Intel driver here since February 2006. I did not test it yet, of course...

EDIT: laugh.gif
This file, titled fw v.1.4.1, is actually the very same thing, i.e. MOTU Audio Installer v.3!!!

So nothing new, apart from: unplug the 828 during process, repair permission before install, and then repair them again after the reboot that's needed by the installer. Replug the 828 only after all that is done.

MMmmm... no more edit button, and i got a full quote of my last message whilst i hit the reply button...

just to say that i got 2 different files during my search, both are Universal Binary, but one is 14MB dated february 2006,and the other is 25Mb, dated april 2006.

It is indeed very confusing!!! I tried to check in the package, but the size difference is coming from the installer data file.

The april version is here at MacMusic, lucky we!
http://www.macmusic.org/software/version.p...ang/fr/id/6914/

And after dl of the february 1.4 version that is also available here, i must say that MacUpdate is still distributing this 1.4 february release as being the 1.4.1.
Confusion is over! It s the first time i see such a wrong filing at MacUpdate... blink.gif

This install provides compatibility updates for Mac Intel processors, Tiger OSX 10.4x, and is compatible with OSX versions back to Panther 10.3.x.

Above quote is from the Motu site - you should MOST definitely use the Universal Binary
with Mac Intel machine.

Hey Play,

I believe you might need both for an Intel based machine. Get Universal Audio Driver and MOTU FireWire Drivers and Console. This should give you the necessary suite for the 828 (original). Install the FW drivers first, thenthe universal audio drivers to bring the required pieces up to date. If they are all installed correctly and recognized by the system, the Audio Console should launch as soon as your 828 is connected and powered on.

Post back to let us know how bad that intel/828 setup rocks!

peace.
