Hi Folks!
I've been sitting on the fence for some time now waiting for OSX audio apps. Now that Jaguar (10.2) is soon to be released AND Apple recently acquired Emagic are my Core Audio dreams about to come true? It seems the potential for hardware/software integration is awesome. I'd like some feedback from current Logic users out there (the PC users are probably bummed). Eventually I'd like to record, mix, and produce demo cd's with mostly acoustic instruments and vocals. TIA, Mark |

Are you using any programs now to record your music?

it's just a matter of weeks away "on paper", but stability and compatibility aren't likely to be relevant phrases for a few weeks/months!
i use logic5, have used logic since day 1. it was always great, "5" is even better, and apple will release the future around about august!? core audio/audiounits will take a lot longer to "kick in" on the basis that 3rd party developers govern the speed of implication by protecting their investments... -------------------- one for all and all for one...

QUOTE (groovesalad @ Jul 22 2002, 17:12) Are you using any programs now to record your music? Right now I'm fooling around with Pro Tools Free under OS 9.2 just to get a sense of what's possible. Years ago I spent quite a bit of time with a 4track making demos for me and others so I've got a pretty good feel for how to record and mix with the traditional methods but I'm a complete newbie to computer manipulation of audio files. I'm also a Mac fanatic and I always figured it was a matter of time before the two collided! Little background: I've got a G4 450 DP with 704 MB ram & no sound card and a new FP iMac 700 combo with 768MB ram. The iMac is at home so I really want to explore the firewire/USB input and breakout box options. Right now i havent made any real financial commitments (other than the computers!) hence I'm sitting on the fence. However I very baddly want to be "Classic Free." Thanks again for any input or comments. Cheers, Mark |

surely to be using pt le and os9 is not "sitting on the fence"???
x audio is just around the corner for most, here already for some. there's enough free stuff available for x already. go on...get your hands dirty! -------------------- one for all and all for one...

er...actually I am still sittin on dafence, damann
I've taken a step backwards in fact: I'm recording to an 8 channel analog 4track. Reason: since I want to use my new FP iMac at home, I need to purchase a USB hardware interface in order to do any multi-tracking in PT OS9 (my iMic has way too much latency so is only good for "fooling around" with single tracks of digital audio). Can I safely get an M-Box or Quattro (is emagic's EMI 6|2 out yet?) and find it compatible with future emagic/apple offerings? Are there OS X drivers? Any advise greatly appreciated! Mark |

If you want something simple, try an m-audio delta 44. There's no latency, and there are X drivers already for it.

My Quattro sounds great on OS X.
