I have a large amount of samples and tracks stored on my roommate's PC and I'm setting up my G3 for audio use. I'm wondering if there is a way of opening Windows file folders on a Mac or if I need to dump all the files onto my USB h/d and just transfer them without folders. Obviously, this is a less desirable option, as it could get very messy.

The easiest solution IMHO is to have macdrive installed on the PC, so you can browse the PC transparently from the mac and copy stuff thru the network. Ethernet is your friend.

The immportant thing to understand is the mac can see a PC HD (not sure of NTFS support in OS 9 though, I don't think so…) but you need some help to make it visible in a network from the Mac (AppleShare), hence MacDrive.

Else you can burn CDs (but care about the names…) or use a PC formatted external hard drive (on the format to use, someone more acquainted to PC used alongside G3 macs would be welcome, I'm more of use for OS X capabilities and it's OS 9 here).

I forgot to mention that my roommate had, until recently made his PC into a sort of ghetto "duplicator" with 3 burners. He took all but one out and that one is pretty much useless...this is the main reason I decided to back up everything to a USB drive quickly.

I'll look into your suggestions.

Thanks!
