It is possible !!!
This is amazing.
There is also a drive bay so you can add two internal IDE/ATA or SCSI disk drives to the 2 slot enclosure.

Hey, electradise, are you some kind of a schyzophren? ;-)

Happy to see that you found that it's possible to use more pci cards, even on a powerbook which as no such port :-).
Magma has many solutions, from 1 to 13 pci cards (wow, impressive!).
I've used one, 1 year ago with a tower G4 (ie. pci) with a Pro-tools Mix24 with av-option, scsi, no problems so far. But there are controverses...

It seems the pcmcia (cardbus) on most powerbooks could be VERY usefull. Have a look also at the RME interfaces (Hammefall family) at http://www.rme-audio.de/english/index.htm. Impressive, at least...

Bye.

It´ll cost you an arm and a leg though. Haven´t seen Magmas used for anything but ProTools setups (which at least dwarf the Magma´s pricing scheme). $1000 for the smallest, 1 slot expansion chassis to be able to use a $1500 solution? You could just buy a Hammerfall Multiface + Cardbus for your laptop.

yeah, it's way to expensive.
The RME is def. the best option.
though it would be nice we could use the new roland controller on a Tibook.
Don't you think ?! unsure.gif

p.s: sorry, i'm a musician, not a computer tech.
That's why i bought a mac after all.

yeah... i looked into the magma setup as well to use with my Digi001 but just couldn't justify the cost... I feel they are way over priced for their function. I am sure it probably didn't even cost more than a $300 to build those units.

I was considering a card that I had seen on a site that plugs directly into the card slot on the tibook and offers 2 24 bit inputs and 2 24 bit outputs and I think they were balanced but can't remember for sure. Anyhow, it was a bit pricey too at $500 but seemed like it was more reasonable than spending over $1000 for magma.

curious... what IS RME? I seen this reference in a couple of other posts but have no clue what that relates to... heck it may be the same thing I was looking at wink.gif

http://www.rme-audio.com/

Check it out.
I believe they also make the interfaces for nuendo.
There's also a nice test where they compare their hardware with lots of different laptops, notebooks, whatever..... I'v used it on a P41800DDR & that was really amazing.
