The contest - http://www.winxponmac.com/ - to boot Windows XP on the Mac Intel has been won. The winners will receive $13,854.
The instructions to the contest stipulated the following conditions: - Boot Windows XP on the Intel Mac - Windows must coexist with Mac OS X and may not interfere with the operation of the other - Upon starting the computer, the user must be offered a choice of which OS to boot Here's the evidence: http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/engadget/vid...2006_xp_mac.mov Added value for the new Intel Macs -------------------- |

Booting Windows on a system capable of working under OSX?
This is as close to a definition of masochism as I could imagine...unless you're a gamer of course Seriously, it's good work these guys did. |

That is quite interesting...But...I see the video, but I'm really wondering how feasible that is...I didn't see the person boot into OS X, restart and then boot into XP (or vice versa)...
If this is really feasible, I'd love to know what special steps need to be made to make it happen. What can I say; it's the geek in me -------------------- |

As stated in the contest website, "updates to follow shortly".
It seems the crew behind the development doesn't want too much revealed at this time. -------------------- |

The solution is now available on engadget. You'll need
A custom slipstreamed CD is required to install XP on a Mac. What you'll need ---------------- 1. An original XP PRO SP2 CDROM It doesn't have to be bootable, but it should have a I386 directory on the root. 2. The xom.zip file. 3. Nero Burning ROM 4. A blank CD 5. A PC of course... 6. 20-30 minu http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/16/windows...olution-posted/ |
