i have a school project and i need to make one long song using a few different songs. i really just need some software that will let me cut tracks at the times i need and have them run back to back to make one song with the pieces. however, im very new to the mac music world and not extremely computer literate. im on a powerbook g4 and im hoping to find a free software to complete this task. like i said, simple task of being able to cut the sections out of a few diff songs, and then put them together to make one long song. im taking roughly 30 to 45 seconds out of 4 songs and putting them together, back to back, to make one 2-3 minute track, so......

any help?

thanks in advance guys!

krs

Your powerbook should have Garage band installed as an application.
If the songs you want to edit are in your iTunes library then open a new File in GB. Click Track>new basic track and then drag your songs from iTunes into each track where they will automatically load. Then use cut and paste to edit and arrange each track so that they will play sequentially as you wish. Apply any equalisation via the Master track (double click on the Master track icon to open dialogue box). Then export to iTunes as a finished piece.
