I am going to buy a digi 002 (PT 7) and a g5 for the purpose of mixing of mixing full lenght low-budget albums. I will be working at 96k and assume that I will use all 32 tracks available. I will be mixing "ïn the box" including all fx and processing. I want to know what is a minimum, but "safe" speed g5 to buy in order to have a trouble free time. Currently I am maxing out my dual 1.25 g4, 756 ram while mixing with a digi 001 at 48k... which is just barely enough. Also, is one FW drive fast enough to do everything on?
Thanks, M'her

[B]mixfisto,

I just purchased (12/21/2005) a Apple Power Mac Dual-core 2.0GHz, upgraded it with an additional 2.0GB of Ram, for a total of 2.5GB of Ram and it runs very, very smoothly with no hiccups, although I will be adding another 2GB of Ram in 2 weeks... I'm just like that (4.5GB...sweet cool.gif )

I am using Mbox 2, ProTools 7.0 LE, Ableton LIVE 5, Reason 3.0, BFD Drums, GarageBand 2.0, over 65 diff. type of plugg-ins.
KORG microKONTROL
Apple 20" Cinema Display (may swicth out to the 23" in two weeks also.)
[Go with the 23" if you can afford it.]

Trust me, this is a worth while and very reliable upgrade, just remember on the ProTools 7.0 LE upgrade to go to Digidesign website and get the 7.0 LE cs upgrade that fixes all of the buggs BEFORE you launch Protools for the 1st time and you will have no problems.

I hope that I was some help to you, any futher question contact me at:
