Hello,
I have been using the following setup: M-Audio, Keystation Pro 88 (connection via USB into my laptop computer) Computer: AMD 3000+, 500mb RAM, 80gb 4200rpm HDD (laptop) ------------- I realize that this computer is not the "ideal" for doing sampling, but it's what I have and I haven't had any problems with running GS3 or any of my other music programs like Prop. Reason 3. I have however been getting a lot of latency, somewhere in the 200-300ms range, when using the keyboard. I thought it was due to using USB to power it, so I got a seperate power supply for the keyboard, and while I think it helped some, I still have too much latency to do anything useful with the keyboard. My question is how to best optimize this setup so that I can get a lower latency and be able to use my programs for something more useful. I hope to get the latency under 30ms if possible? I also will be doing mic'd recording for vocals and guitars shortly, so I need some sort of audio I/O and I was planning on buying a Novation Speedio, seeing as how it uses MIDI and audio -- but I won't have much use for it if the latency remains so large! Please help?! Thanks! -nate |

OH -- by the way, I've been using GigaStudio 3.10 in Rewire mode via Cakewalk Sonar 4 Producer Edition. I'm running a MIDI channel with the VST routing to an audio channel.
Thanks! -nate |
