I'm a bit of a computer novice. I've got Logic pro 7 and am trying to use my keyboard to create midi stuff. I've got the keyboard plugged into my interface and my interface plugged into the computer. I've checked that sound in and out is selected to my sound card and have checked all the leads are in the right place. Logic just doesn't seem to see my keyboard. I know this is probably a really simple question but it's driving me mad! I would really appreciate anyones help.
Thanks Jen. |

In the utilities folder open up Audio Midi Setup, and configure it for your devices, then it will automatically show up in Logic.

Are you trying to use the keyboard as a MIDI controller to trigger virtual instruments, or use it as hardware synth and send midi to it from within Logic?
If you want to use it as a controller, then you simply install the driver for it. if it's a USB keyboard connect the USB to an open port, if not, then connect it's MIDI in and out to the out and in of your MIDI interace. If you want to use it as a sound module that Logic is sending MIDi notes to, then you'll have to create a MIDI object for it in the Environment window, then instantiate it into the arrange window. ****If you just bought Logic, you have 3 months of technical support from them...so call them and ask them how to create a MIDI object in the Environment.....it's too lengthy of a description to go over here. |

Thanks Psychoid,
I just want to be able to use the keyboard as a midi controller. The keyboard's currently plugged into my interface. I'll see if I can download the drivers, I didn't realise I needed them. Thanks Jen |

What type of MIDI interface do you have? Have you installed the driver for the MIDI interface? Have a look on the MIDI interface manufacturer's website to check you have the latest version of the driver.
You don't need to install a driver for your keyboard. |
