I was wondering in Logic Express how to manage all the unwanted recording takes that get automatically saved. If Im recording a guitar part and it takes me 20 takes to get it right, Logic seems to save all 20 takes even though I undo the recording I dont want, it still saves them all and asks for them all.
How can I manage this better and keep file sizes down. Nigel |

if you undo a recording it still stays in the audio window, have a look, they're all there..you should highlight and delete from the arrange window, then you get asked about keeping or deleting the take...

mmm. they dont seem to be there. After I undo recording the recorded piece disappears, then I record again. If I keep a recording then manually delete it, it does ask if I want to delete from drive and it deletes all recordings with that prefix.
But if I undo recording, so there is no recording in the arrange window of that channel, it is still stored in the hard drive. I will double check this however. Also can I go through my audio files folder and manually delte the recording takes I don't want, or will I destroy the good ones as well. Are they depepndent on each other? Sometime when Ive deleted a file it still asks for it at start up? Cheers for your help |

No no no...the AUDIO window, not the arrange window!! Have a look through the menus, you'll find it. Use the screensets to access it quickly...
Highlight them in the arrange and then delete, not undo! If you undo a recording, have a look in the AUDIO window, you will see it's still there. Delete it. It will always ask for files if you delete them from the folder and then try and load the song they were in, it's supposed to know where all the files it thinks shoulde be there are. I see you're in London, do you want a little training? A couple of hours on some key points? -------------------- Simon Flinn

Yeah of course the audio window!!!!! ahhh the old audio window, mmm er don't seem to have used that so far. BUT I WILL NOW!!! Thanks guys!
Im a singer songwriter and basically do guitar and vocal with loop drums and bass. It was pretty ropey to start with but I just got a whole lot better. Yeah I could use some training I guess but I cant pay for it so I wouldnt ask. Ive got some great songs though if your're interested... |
