Howdy folks,

Any Logic Express users out there? I'm new the computer recording scene and was thinking about picking up this program. One thing I'm curious about is the ability to assign Midi control in Express. I've got an M-Audio Keystation Pro88 and (quirks aside) the thing's got a slew of assignable faders, etc. I want to be able to use these suckers to control my sequencer...

On the feature comparison at Apple, Express is listed as having "Basic" Assignable Controls whereas Pro has both "Basic" and "Advanced" assignable controls...

Anybody have any experience as far as what parameters are actually assignable in Express? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Billy

There used to be a comparison on the Emagic site, but John Pitcairn has a great site all about controlling Logic - try there.

In Logic7 Express you have the ability to assign nearly everything to your midi controllers:
- volume, pan, plug in parameters, etc ... with the Learn function (Command+L)
- transport, opening windows, activate function or anything you want with the Midi Remote in the Keyboard Shorcuts window. I'm talking about hundreds of functions here: zoom, cut/copy, sreensets recalls and so on ...

It's largely enough for a lot of users, I guess. cool.gif
And it's even more with Pro.

Yes. You can have multiple control surfaces with Logic Express.
Have look at this for more information.
