Welcome sadproz Yes there are things to try before, on mac you reinstall only when the other tricks don't work. First repair permissions on your boot drive using the Apple drive utllity (in apps/utilities), if it not enough, try the same but use the first install CD, boot from it and in the installer menu choose the drive utility. Repair permissions is to be done after any software install you do on your mac, even if Apple doesn't say so, it makes wonders… Again, if things are still amiss, time to do some serious clean up : - download OnyX, and run it, it'll ask your password - then in the maintenance part check everything save the 2 last bottom items, choose complete optimization and all scripts. This is all the basic maintenance stuff build in the BSD origin of OS X. (the scripts are also the part done by your computer when he's aloe at night, if you shut it down, you should run the scripts by hand regularly at least once a month, it helps !) When it's done… - got to the cleaning part and check everything in the 2 bottom parts save the trash stuff. Choose to suppress all system caches. Mind that to suppress the DS_store files will put all the finder special views you've done to default. - Now it's really time to RESTART (If I've not been clear enough just tell me what is unclear) Check… If it doesn't work still… Reinstall the latest driver from M-audio, then repair permissions, and restart. Check… Now if it doesn't work, it's not the system (save if 10.3.9 is not compatible), and the driver is correctly installed and running. (tbc)

hey, thanks so much for replying. I tried it out and no luck. i even Erased and Installed OSX but work it did not. i dunno what to do. im thinking of biking over to an apple store and bringing my powerbook with me, plugging in a keystation and seeing if it works. if it does, its MY keystation, not the software. if it doesnt, its the software.

Giving a second thought… Another possibility: blocked usb ports in some way. so reset the motherboard should do the trick, trouble is, I don't remember the way to proceed on powerbooks… (I'm a poor G5 user Someone ? Also, with another cable? Does it sjow in the system profile apple menu>about this mac>more information One day we'll hear no more form M-Audio stuff because it'll just work… One day…
