Logic 7 Midi Options

Hi,

I recently bought a Behringer BCR2000 midi controller to use with Logic 7. Using the midi learn fuction, i have managed to assign vol/pan/mute to the respective controls on the BCR2000. However, i seem unable to assign solo to anything, and i am having real trouble assigning generic plug-in parameters (even when doing it using midi cc messages).

The Logic manual is a little confusing, and there seems to be no help at the apple forum.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Any advice and feedback would be much appreciated.

I usually use the BCR with Live4 wich is very simple, but I've just tried back on Logic7. Here is what I found working:

Volume, Pan, Mute, Sends, Virtual intrument parameters (tried with EXS24 & ES1) and some Waves plug in parameters on it.

But Solo doesn't seem to work...

The other fact is that you don't get a return of the values to the BCR. But since you always change values from the BCR it's nearly all right (except when you're reading the automation you've done)
The encoders of the BCR aren't touch-sensitive: it means that "touch" automation mode is quite difficult...

The assignation process is sometimes a little buggy but it works in the end:
In the Controler Assign little window, click "learning mode" then move slowly and fully the parameter on your Audio object or plug in window. After that move your encoder on the BCR: it should appear below the parameter in the window when you stop moving. Then click again on "Learning mode" to stop learning. When you move the encoder for the first time after that, you'll have to reach the actual value to take control on it.
You can link a bunch of controllers like that and skip between them with the little arrows on top right.
I hope i'm clear enough for you...

Another thing: I've created a BCR midi device in the AudioMidiSetup in addition of the BCR2000 midi interface that appears when you plug the BCR. And i've connected them together. So Logic can see the BCR as a midi controller AND a midi interface.

As Logic have been initially conceived to work with Logic/Mackie Control and if you're not satisfied whith this method, you can try this too.
