Hello,

I'm using Logic Express 7, and I am a complete novice, this is my 5th hour of owning it.

I have 4 MIDI tracks that I have recorded and would like to convert to an MP3 file.
I have created a track and set it to Output 1-2.

I then go to FILE > BOUNCE and set all the options accordingly. The MP3 file is then created with the correct seconds and file name, but I hear no sound. I also see no activity in my panels when I have the Output 1-2 track selected. I know I'm doing something wrong, or forgetting to do something. What else do I have to do?

ok... I am not using that new version of Logic so I may be limited on help but... the midi will produce no sound unless the midi tracks are routed to a virtual instrument or plugin that is a sound module. Then that plugin must be bussed to output channels of 1-2. If your midi is not connected to any sound module... it is just data and not actually sound so this could be why you have no sound when bouncing.

Describe your setup a little more and how you got the midi into Logic and what the midi is routed to and this may help others help you more cool.gif

and if you are using freeze... I think you must setup an audio track in the environment and route the sound module sound to that track instead of outputs 1-2 but this is my guess since my version doesn't offer this yet

I could try to explain it but... since I am not able to run Logic right now... would be hard to describe. You should find all the info needed in the manual though. Maybe do a search on the net for the info as well. Its tough to explain without visual aids really but maybe someone here using Logic currently can give it a shot wink.gif

I'm running a M-Audio Keystation 61es MIDI Controller via USB into my iMac. In my enviornment I am mapping Port 1 (Channel 1) to QuickTime Synth which I create. I have 5 MIDI tracks using built in virtual instruments. I go to bounce, properly set it to the correct amount of measures, select MP3, and attempt to bounce it in real time. It goes through creating the file while I hear the MIDI instruments playing properly. At the end it saves it as an MP3. I then load it from my desktop with QuickTime and I have a working MP3 file that plays, but I hear nothing. My music teacher tried to help, but he doesn't use Logic. He just called me after talking to a friend and informed me that it has something to do with "ReWire in the Enviornment". I went in to the enviornment and mapped ReWire to Port 1, but that didn't do anything different. Any ideas?

if you are getting sound from your virtual instruments... I doubt its a midi related issue. it just seems like there is something not set right in the audio routing (bussing). Try bouncing to .aiff also... mp3 generation means it must do extra processing and maybe something is going wrong there.

all virtual tracks routed to outputs 1-2 right? Bouncing set for those outputs too right? Maybe try to freeze (bouncing plugin sound to a track as audio wave then disable virtual track output) a virtual instrument track and bounce that too and see what is produced. unsure.gif

sorry I can't be of more help

That's the problem. They are not set to Output 1-2. I don't know how to do that. I don't know how to tell Output 1-2 to capture them either.

Can anyone who is familiar with Logic tell me how to route my MIDI tracks to Audio Track Output 1-2?
