Hello,
I am very new to the mac making music world, so new in fact, i haven't started - that is why i need help. I currently have (don't laugh) an old 400mhz G4. I want to get a sound card for it. I have a pre amp and speakers i would like to run through it as well. I am also going to upgrade to a G5 soon, so some input there would be great as well. Thanks for the help, David |

hey hushhurt...
i think your g4 will do just fine for a little while... first, you have to know what you need your soundcard for... i'm guessing plugging in guitars/bass/mic/midi??? how many??? budget??? here's a good start: www.echoaudio.com but echo is still strictly pci, which means you have to install hardware into your mac first... but personally, i'd go for straight up fire wire (just plugs into your firewire jack) like this: http://www.edirol.com/products/info/fa66.html and of course m-audio http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=produc...&ID=proproducts hope that helps!! good luck. |

Thanks Don,
I am wanting to run my keyboards and guitar amp to the computer and run the computer card out to pre-amp then to speakers. I am a mid-range package. Should I buy a midi card and a pre-amp, or a bundled card and preamp??? could you point me in the right direction one more time? thanks |
