Computer: Powerbook G4
Software: Garageband
WHEN USING GARAGE BAND I AM HAVING PROBLEMS RECORDING VOCALS USING A CAD GXL2200 CONDENSOR MICROPHONE. WHEN I SELECT A NEW TRACK AND CLICK STEREO I ONLY HEAR AND RECORD SOUNDS COMING OUT OF THE RIGHT SPEAKER, EVEN WITH THE ADJUST KNOB IS IN THE MIDDLE. WHEN I RECORD USING MONO I HEAR SOUND IN BOTH SPEAKERS. HOW CAN I FIX THIS SITUATION AND RECORD STEREO QUALITY VOCALS AND HAVE THE SOUND PLAY IN BOTH SPEAKERS? CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE OFFER ME SOME SUGGESTIONS.

P.S. I AM USING A TUBE MICROPHONE PREAMPLIFIER AND A FAST TRACK USB TO CONECT TO MY POWERBOOK G4.

A single mono microphone will provide a mono sound source that can only be used for a mono TRACK in GB. If you have a second mic and are able to use and connect both at the same time via a suitable interface then both of those connection inputs can be selected within GB for a stereo TRACK.

you can record the vocal and then copy it to another track. ex. record on channel one and the copy to chanel two. pan channel one to hard left and channel two to hard right. bounce the tracks and then boom---STEREO vocals.

or you could use an application like peak or peak LE to create stereo vocal out of mono vocals. also i guess you could use audacity.

happy recording,
